Leicht Joins the 2008 Horsepower Tee Shot Tour Competition
Virginia Beach, Virginia (February 14, 2008) - HorsePower Sports Marketing (HSM), the sanctioning body of the 2008 Horsepower Tee Shot Tour (HTST), welcomes its fourth stock car personality to participate in the upcoming HTST on SPEED TV.

Stephen Leicht, a twenty-one year old performer for Richard Childress Racing’s Nationwide Series Race Team, will take the tee during the six event HTST, a Power Golf Tour which will begin this May and conclude in October.

Leicht will join Hermie Sadler, Elliott Sadler, and J.J. Yeley on the celebrity side of the HTST with another four celebrity spots to be announced shortly.

The eight racing personalities will join Power Golfers Vince Howell, JD Murkerson, Sean Fister, Brooks Baldwin, Scott Ionno, Kevin Bullard, Danny Luirette, and Carl Wolter to form teams of two for these high energy events.

Leicht, an Ashville, NC native and three-year veteran in the Nationwide Series, was discovered by Robert Yates and brought to the team after a successful tenure in all forms of racing.

Leicht’s resume was punctuated when he became the youngest ASA Champion ever at 18 years of age. After a developmental year in 2005, Leicht piloted the #90 Ford of RYR Racing in 2006 for 20 races and proved he was ready for a full season of action in 2007.

The 2007 season proved to be a sensational campaign as Stephen finished seventh in the overall Nationwide Series point standings which included a huge victory at Kentucky Speedway. The season also included three Top 5’s and 7 Top 10’s.

In 2008, Leicht is excited about his new race team and his entry into the HTST. “I am looking forward to competing in this year’s HorsePower Tee Shot Tour. Second only to racing, golf is the game I love to play the most. The format will be a lot of fun for both the players and fans. It will be interesting to see what happens when the NASCAR guys have to step up and hit the ball in front of the television cameras.”

John Mamoudis, President, HSM, had these thoughts on the latest addition. “Jeff Hammond has been telling me we need to get Stephen on board. Not only is he going to become a household name on the race track, but he can hold his own on the golf course. We welcome him to our tee.”
